Meet the Team

  • Thor Sterker

    (co-founder of PB Consultants and Platform Brokers)
     Thor SterkerAfter graduating as a mechanical engineer Thor commenced his career in the oil & gas industry as a mud logger / DATA engineer with Dresser Magcobar working on deep onshore wells. In 1979, he joined Heerema as field engineer working onboard of the "Challenger", "Odin", "Thor", "Balder" and "Hermod". Over a period of 40 years he was involved in offshore installation work, fabrication of oil & gas platforms and decommissioning of oil & gas platforms.

    In 1992 he became involved, as principal consultant, in the Amoco North West Hutton and the Conoco Viking field abandonment study. He was involved in several R&D project related to underwater cutting techniques such as; abrasive water jet -, explosive - and diamond wire cutting. Over the years several project management positions were held at Bluewater Engineering involving the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of several single point turret mooring systems.

    In 1994 he developed platform re-use software and has participated in the development of the project since that time. Amongst other activities, he is now project manager for Platform Brokers.

     

  • Martin Bruins

    Martin BruinsJoined PB Consultants in 2017. Graduated as Civil-Coastal Engineer at Delft Universitiy of Technology, Martin started with Rijkswaterstaat North Sea Directorate as Deputy Department Head Offshore Pipelines and Hydrographic Surveys
    11 years with Unocal Netherlands followed by 7 years with INTEC Engineering (General Manager NL office / Manager Operations) brought him to Bluewater Energy Services bv. After 4 years with Bluewater, he joined Petrofac (London Office) as Head of Business Development for floating production unit. Specific expertise includes: Business Development Commercial / Contracts, General Management, Project Management, Field development studies Floating / Mobile Production Facilities (FPSO's) / MOPU's), Oil and Gas production operations, Fabrication and Installation Contracts, Petroleum Engineering / Reservoir Engineering, Offshore pipelines, design and installation, Offshore drilling operations and well completion, Diving and ROV operations and Marine survey operations  

    He is now Sr. Advisor / Project manager for Platform Brokers Consultants

     

  • Otto van Voorst

    (co-founder of PB Consultants and Platform Brokers)
    Otto van VoorstAfter graduating as a civil engineer in 1974, Otto van Voorst joined Heerema, the offshore heavy lift contractor. From field engineer on the crane vessels he developed a career in Heerema with a two-year posting in Perth (WA) and general manager of the UK operation, based in London.

    In 1988 he joined Hamilton as a project manager and thereafter to ABB Lummus Global in the Leiden office as project services director. In 1993 he joined Bluewater as vice president responsible for all projects and was instrumental in the development of Bluewater to where it is today.

    Late 1998 he set up the platform re-use brokerage and agreed an exclusive license with the software developers. He is now general manager of Platform Brokers.
